Southern California Coastal Water Research Project (SCCWRP)
SCCWRP Offices
SCCWRP is a research institute focused on the coastal ecosystems of Southern California from watersheds to the ocean. SCCWRP was formed in 1969 to enhance the scientific understanding of linkages among human activities, natural events, and the health of the Southern California coastal environment; to communicate this understanding to decision makers and other stakeholders; and to suggest strategies for protecting the coastal environment for this and future generations. To achieve these objectives, SCCWRP will collaborate with local groups who wish to obtain and share ambient water quality monitoring data on a regional basis, and encourage their use of the SCCWRP Data Center.
SCCWRP currently is working with members of the Stormwater Monitoring Coalition, which includes both stormwater regulators and dischargers, to obtain current and historical water quality data for streams and rivers. This data will then be incorporated into CEDEN to allow large-scale comparisons with other regions throughout California. SCCWRP also is collaborating with various citizen-monitoring groups in southern California to add their monitoring data to the SCCWRP Data Center. SCCWRP will continue to work with local monitoring groups in Southern California with the goal of expanding participation and the extent of data collected.

National Museum of Natural History and Science (MUHNAC)
The National Museum of Natural History and Science (MUHNAC) is an education institution, science and culture in the heart of Lisbon. The Museum has its origins in the Royal Museum of Natural History and Botanical Garden, created in the eighteenth century, although this space already had educational institutions since the seventeenth century. The MUNAC includes places full of history, places of great historical and scientific interest and the Botanical Gardens, a national monument. Stand out, among others, the Chemical Lab and its theater, the Astronomical Observatory and the old Picadeiro do Colégio dos Nobres. Its mission is to promote public knowledge and curiosity about nature and science, bringing the University to the society. This mission is achieved through the use of their collections and university heritage, research, organization of exhibitions, conferences and other activities of scientific, educational, cultural and leisure activities. This unit consists of the MUHNAC Museums - National Museum of Natural History and Science (Rua da Escola Politécnica) in the Principe Real area, integrating the Lisbon Botanical Garden (on site) and the Lisbon Astronomical Observatory (Hunting Reserve in the Help in the Superior Institute of Agronomy). The Museum supports research and teaching in the fields of zoology and anthropology, botany, mineralogy and geology, and other natural sciences and encourages the study and dissemination of the history of science and technology, contributing to scientific and cultural background of students in these areas. The Museum also assumes the responsibility to the wider national context, conservation and study of biological and geological collections and historical-scientific heritage, establishing partnerships for recovery and use of the museum collections and heritage of Lisbon University and other institutions.
